Prior to the printing business Alan was in the telephone, farm and radio businesses, including managing a radio station. Alan started in the printing business as the manager of a want-ad newspaper, then started a Real Estate newspaper and Printing Company. He also did some advertising agency work as part of his client needs.

Alan joined Databar in 2003 to expand his offering of products and services to his clients to better serve them.
